My family and I love animals and birds. We have several, - animals and birds. This page will be the location of pictures and links to pictures of some of our critters, and some we have had the privilege of meeting. Let me start with a few pictures of the dogs. As of April 2004, we have two. Moses, the Border Collie. He is definitely a working dog. He patrols the back yard and does NOT want any strangers coming in his territory. He has taught Dave, the Black Lab, to patrol as well.
You'll notice by the third picture, that Moses is over worked and under paid. As well as one spoiled pooch. (that's MY pillow)
This is Katy. She's our evil indoor cat. Try, just try, to pet her. She will leave scars.
On the other hand, here's Coco. Coco was the cougar that was at the camp where Rhonda worked during the summer, 2001. She (Coco) was a lover. My brother Stan used to spend time in the cage playing with her like she was a normal house kitten. Soon after Stan left the camp, we heard that Coco became ill and had to be put to sleep. We will remember her as a loving, playful friend. Stan & Coco (Nancy & me with Coco.) ( Rhonda with Coco) (Rhonda & Sonja with Coco) We had a Timnah (African Grey Parrot) for a while. He was a really sweet bird. He got frightened one day and flew off. We miss him. Here he is helping Marja with her music. On November 28, 2004 Nancy and Sonja took me to the Bird Mart, at Fairplex, and bought me my Christmas present, for 2004. They also bought me my birthday present for 2005. These presents were and are all the same thing: a African Grey Parrot. We walked through the building and saw thousands of birds. At one of the last vendors we came to there were three baby greys in one cage. Two of them were eating from a dish on the near side of the cage, and didn't pay much attention when we walked up. One of them was on the other side of the cage, and came running over to the near side to see me. He stepped on the dish the other two were eating from and got as close as he could. What choice did I have? I just had to take him home with me. We took him to the van in a small carrying cage, but after we got on the road, I opened the cage to see what he would do in the car. He climbed out of the cage, and climbed up on my chest. He tucked himself in, under my chin, and behind my beard. He rode home there, making some quiet little squeaking sounds, and relaxing like he was in a familiar place. Here are a few of pictures of Squeaky Pete. (Commonly known as Pete.) As you can see, Pete found it necessary to help me open the rest of my presents when Christmas finally came around. Let's see if we can set this thing up to play a short video. It is a QuickTime movie with Pete joining the CD music in the background. - Enjoy! This is Rusteele. I'm too big to ride him right now. He doesn't seem to mind. He loves to just hang out and eat. He got out of his corral one day, and asked Nancy to let him in the house. Nancy had to call me to come home and invite him back to his own house. Then (as a baby) Now This picture is our daughters Rhonda and Sonja, with our granddaughters Kari and Aryn. The little bundle in Rhonda's hands is a 9 week old tiger cub at the Tiger Rescue, in Colton.
Every now and then, Marja sends us a few pictures of her animals. She is building up quite the menagerie. Here are a some of the pictures she has sent me. Marja & Mojave Maya in a bucket Jalepenio's hiding Maya & Jali Here's Baja. And Cheyenne. They just had a bath. Here are a couple of her Betas. The red one on the right is tending to his nest. She didn't tell me the turtle's name. Did I mention a menagerie????? Note on May 7, 2004 For personal reasons, Baja and Cheyenne decided to move to a farm, out where there is a LOT more room to roam. Marja and Kevin have filled the void they left with three more dogs. I think Mojave came home first. Then Indio. Indio is deaf, but since Marja and Kevin both know ASL, it is not really a problem. They just sign to him. Comanche is the newest addition, As of this week, here are Mojave, Indio, and Comanche.
